It is Christmas!

“It is Christmas” written by Mary B. Mickelsen is a song we sing at this time of year and expresses this thought in the first verse:

“It is Christmas in the Kingdom,  Hearts are merry, spirits gay;

For the Babe , so long awaited,  Came in to our hearts to stay.

Let us thank our gracious Father  Who is Lord of heav’n and earth;

Peace, goodwill and healing blessings  Now attend His holy birth.”

The joy of Christmas and through out the entire year are found in the lines of this song.  The Christ child not only came, but “Came into our hearts to stay” and supplies the “healing blessings” necessary to bring us joy.  How often do we equate the happiness found in things, to joy.  Yet they are entirely different.  The happiness we find in the things we have or do is fleeting and soon fades.  But the joy that Christ brings stays.  It is an eternal joy because it has been planned and completed by “our gracious Father”.

May the happiness that you share with friends and family this Christmas remind you of the Love that is eternal, and that has formed the plan of salvation, for you.  Jesus came willingly to this earth to accomplish what no one had done before, to redeem the world from sin.

We have a “gracious Father” that sent his Son to provide us access to the joy that will never end.  Jesus bids us to come ” Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. – Matthew 11: 28-30″

Joy comes in knowing that you have been redeemed.  Come and learn of the one that lifts a heavy unbearable yoke or burden, and gives one that is easy and light.  This is the best gift of Christmas!  The good news of the Gospel.  Faith in the complete work of Jesus the Christ, the gift of God!  Your heart can learn to sing: “It is Christmas in the Kingdom,  Hearts are merry, spirits gay;  For the Babe , so long awaited,  Came in to our hearts to stay.”!
