The Return

We have recently studied the Old Testament Book of Joshua in our Wednesday Bible Study.  God fulfilled His promise to the people of Israel to establish them in the Promised Land.  How powerful are those promises!  We can know for a certainty that what the Lord says, He will do as the evidence is in the history recorded in the Scriptures.  In the New Testament, Paul tells his young Pastor Timothy to look at what he had been taught from his youth: II Timothy Ch. 3: (15)  “And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.  (16) All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:  (17) That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”

We are going to start a study of the Book of Ezra this Fall.  It is a fast forward from Joshua’s time of  the 1400’s B.C. to the late 500’s B.C..  The Lord not only is willing to establish us by His Grace as He did with His People Israel, but is gracious in restoration.  This study dovetails with the upcoming time of Reformation.  I look forward to spending time in both of these areas.  With this being the celebration of the Reformation’s 500th year it is a marvelous time to see the Lord’s work of restoration.  I have attached a summary of Ezra by Paul Kretzmann for your preview.
